Zacatecas, Mexico – Guides and personnel at the Zigzag Interactive Science and Technology Center recently underwent specialized training in quantum science and technology, marking a significant step in bolstering their ability to engage the public with cutting-edge scientific concepts. This initiative aligns with the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, a global observance in [Insert Current Year if Known, otherwise omit – e.g., 2025] recognizing the transformative potential of this field.

The training session, titled «One Hundred Years of Quantum Mechanics: From the Uncertainty Principle to Quantum Computing,» was led by expert Gerardo Jafet González Loera. This marked the first integration and development activity organized by the Zigzag management, under the direction of Sahara del Río Venegas, specifically for the center’s 40 newly recruited guides. These new additions join the existing team, bringing the total number of science communicators at Zigzag to 100, all dedicated to making scientific knowledge accessible to the Zacatecan community.

During the session held at the Interactive Center, Zigzag staff members welcomed the new guides and familiarized them with the various interactive exhibits and educational resources available at the facility.

González Loera provided a comprehensive overview of key quantum mechanics principles, including energy quantization, fundamental laws of physics, and atomic models. He elucidated Quantum Theory and highlighted the pivotal contributions of pioneering scientists such as Max Planck, Niels Bohr, and Albert Einstein.

The training also explored the practical applications of quantum science and quantum technology in contemporary innovations, ranging from the development of advanced semiconductor chips to breakthroughs in disease diagnostics. The guides actively participated in the session, posing insightful questions and demonstrating a strong interest in deepening their understanding of this complex yet increasingly relevant subject. This enhanced knowledge will empower them to effectively communicate the wonders of quantum physics and its technological impact to visitors of all ages at the Zigzag Interactive Center.
