The Executive Secretary of the National Public Security System (SNSP), Marcela Figueroa Franco, has presented preliminary statistics on victims of intentional homicide by federal entity for the month of April 2025. In this context, Zacatecas is positioned 13th nationally in terms of the lowest number of this crime, with a total of 13 reported cases.

The report, presented during «La Mañanera del Pueblo,» led by the President of the Republic, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, indicates that, with data collected up to April 21 by the 32 state attorney’s offices in the country, Zacatecas is among the entities with the lowest incidence, representing an average of 1.1 percent of the total victims.

According to the document, the daily average of victims of intentional homicide has shown a sustained downward trend since the beginning of the current federal administration, with a preliminary reduction of 32.9 percent compared to September 2024 at the national level.

It details that seven federal entities account for 51 percent of the victims of intentional homicides in the country: Guanajuato with 11.8 percent, followed by the State of Mexico with 8.2, Sinaloa with 6.9, Jalisco with 6.5, Guerrero with 6.1, Michoacán with 6, and Baja California with 5.9 percent.

In September 2024, the daily average of victims of intentional homicide in the country was 86.9, while so far in April 2025, this figure has decreased to 58.3 daily victims, reflecting ongoing efforts in security matters.

When analyzing the annual behavior of the crime from 2018 to April 2025, a decrease of 28.1 percent is observed, with a daily average of 72.3 victims in 2025, in contrast to previous years.

The state figures are an indicator of the positive impact of the pacification strategies promoted by Governor David Monreal Ávila, who has prioritized coordination with the Mexican Army, the National Guard, and local corporations through the Peace Building Table.

According to data from the National Urban Security Survey (Ensu), conducted by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), the urban area of Zacatecas and Guadalupe has moved out of the top spots in perceived insecurity, reporting an index of 81 percent.

The municipality of Fresnillo has also experienced a decrease in perceptions of insecurity, with a reduction of 1.4 percent compared to the measurement from December 2024, while only 11.9 percent of the population aged 18 and older reported having experienced conflicts or confrontations.
