With the aim of sending a message that peace is above all, the Technological University of the State of Zacatecas (Utzac) welcomed a delegation of athletes from the Polytechnic University of Aguascalientes for the second stage of the Encounter for Peace, Brotherhood Games 2024.

In this second part of the meetings, Utzac was the host and games were held between the volleyball and basketball teams, as well as folk dance and singing performances.

The Rector of Utzac, Gonzalo Franco Garduño, stated that «the message we are sending is clear and strong; we represent two of the most important educational institutions, both in Zacatecas and Aguascalientes, and we seek to promote not only healthy coexistence, but also the development of students and teachers through mutual collaboration.»

He added that the idea of these meetings arises to continue promoting peace in both entities, in light of the declaration that this year 2024 is the year of peace in Zacatecas, an initiative of Governor David Monreal Ávila that is reinforced with these types of actions.

José Iván Orlando Rodríguez, in charge of the Academic Development Directorate and representative of the Rector of UPA, Otto Granados Franco, thanked the hospitality of the Government of Zacatecas, as well as Utzac, while inviting to work together to have academic exchanges between students and teachers.

Yaseth Hernández Huerta, general coordinator of the National Fair of Zacatecas 2024, made the declaration of the inauguration of the Encounters for Peace, Brotherhood Games and emphasized the importance of continuing to promote peace in the State.

As a result of the meetings, in volleyball the score was 2 sets to 0 in favor of the Polytechnic University of Aguascalientes, while in basketball, the UTZAC Lynxes took the victory with a score of 71 to 49.

Additionally, there was a showcase of folk dance by students from both universities, as well as singing, through which they demonstrated great talent in both disciplines.
