At the Migrants for Transformation Forum, local deputy Renata Ávila Valadez called on the migrant community of Sombrerete to form a formal club that would strengthen their connection to their homeland and facilitate access to support.

Although other municipalities in Zacatecas already have migrant clubs that have promoted projects, Sombrerete lacks one, which limits their opportunities.

Ávila Valadez also addressed the impact of a new trade war between Mexico and the United States, warning that the increase in tariffs will affect both migrants in the U.S. and the local economy in Zacatecas.

She supported the stance of President Claudia Sheinbaum against the tariffs and proposed several initiatives from Congress, such as the creation of a Sombreretense Migrant Day and mechanisms to ensure the representation of migrants in state decisions.

Additionally, she suggested a state support program for migrants and an emergency fund for those in vulnerable situations.

Finally, she emphasized the importance of channeling remittances towards projects that generate employment and development in Zacatecas, reaffirming her commitment to the migrant community and the need for unity and organization.
