The Zacatecas Health Secretariat (SSZ) is calling on elementary school students across the state to participate in the National Drawing Smiles Contest. This initiative, promoted by Governor David Monreal Ávila, aims to foster healthy habits among children.
The artistic competition, organized by Mexico’s federal Health Secretariat, is open to students aged 6 to 12 who are currently enrolled in elementary school nationwide. The contest features three categories: first and second grade, third and fourth grade, and fifth and sixth grade.
Participating children are asked to create a letter-size drawing using materials such as crayons, colored pencils, markers, chalk, watercolors, or graphite. Traced drawings or those referencing commercial brands will not be accepted.
On the back of each drawing, participants must clearly print their full name, age, address, phone number, email address, school name, teacher’s name, grade, group, and the school’s phone number. Entries lacking complete information will be disqualified.
The drawings should visually represent concepts like oral health, well-being, joy, and smiles, as well as oral care techniques. Any accompanying text must have correct spelling and not promote any private companies; otherwise, the entry will be disqualified.
Drawings can be submitted individually or through schools at the dental offices of health centers throughout the state. These will then be forwarded to jurisdictional offices and subsequently to the SSZ central offices. A panel of experts will select the top three entries from Zacatecas to represent the state at the national level.
The deadline for submitting drawings at medical units is Tuesday, September 16. For any questions or clarifications regarding the contest rules, individuals can contact the SSZ Oral Health Program offices at the telephone number 492 491 5000 extension 53536, located in Building G of Ciudad Administrativa in the state capital.
