Governor Monreal Launches Genaro Codina-San Isidro Highway Modernization

GENARO CODINA, Zac. – Governor David Monreal Ávila has initiated modernization work on the Genaro Codina-San Isidro highway, a project aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and road safety. The governor conducted an on-site inspection of the project’s commencement on May 2, 2025.  

The rehabilitation project covers a 2.8-kilometer stretch and includes significant infrastructure improvements. Accompanied by Public Works Secretary José Luis de la Peña Alonso, Governor Monreal detailed that the project encompasses the construction of a 2.5-meter culvert, reconstruction of the hydraulic base, placement of a 5-centimeter compacted asphalt layer, and slope protection and lateral area cleanup.  

These enhancements are designed to optimize road conditions and ensure user safety, facilitating access to nearby communities and promoting economic and social development in the region. Governor Monreal emphasized the project’s importance to local residents.  

«We are working to ensure our highways are safe and dignified, connecting our communities and generating well-being for Zacatecas families,» Governor Monreal stated during the inspection.

The inspection was also attended by Secretary General of Government Rodrigo Reyes Mugüerza, Public Security Secretary Arturo Medina Mayoral, State Attorney General Cristian Paul Camacho Osnaya, and Genaro Codina Municipal President Erick Hernández Saucedo, among other officials.
