GENARO CODINA, Zac., May 2, 2025 – Governor David Monreal Ávila led the distribution of food aid from the «Corazón Contento» program to families in El Laurel, Genaro Codina, reinforcing his commitment to the welfare of vulnerable populations. The event, held at Beatriz González Elementary School, highlighted the state’s efforts to address food security and community support.
Governor Monreal emphasized the program’s role in providing essential nutrition, stating, «With these types of programs, we address an urgent need: that our families have access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food.» He was joined by Mayor Erick Hernández Saucedo and Secretary General of Government Rodrigo Reyes Mugüerza.
The distribution, part of a broader social outreach initiative, included the presence of the Mexican Army, National Guard, State Public Security Secretariat, and State and Federal Attorney General’s Offices. These agencies participated in community engagement activities alongside the food distribution.
The aid packages contained basic food items designed to support families’ nutritional needs and alleviate economic strain. Beneficiaries were also involved in community cleanup and maintenance projects, fostering social cohesion.
Governor Monreal also inaugurated new sanitary facilities and infrastructure improvements at Beatriz González Elementary School, underscoring his administration’s focus on regional development. He recalled the impact of the San Aparicio Dam collapse, which damaged local infrastructure and farmland. He credited the collaborative efforts of government agencies and the armed forces for Genaro Codina’s recovery.
«Thanks to social unity, the armed forces, and the support of the governments, Genaro Codina stands today,» Governor Monreal stated, acknowledging the crucial role of the military and aid organizations in the recovery efforts.
The event was attended by key officials, including Isaac Bravo López, commander of the Eleventh Military Zone; Vicente Dimayuga Canales, coordinator of the National Guard; Arturo Medina Mayoral, Secretary of Public Security; and State Representative Susana Barragán Espinosa, among other state functionaries.
