Governor David Monreal Ávila expressed his total support, solidarity, and wished success to Zacatecan athlete Ilse Adriana Guerrero Rodarte, who will participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
As part of the activities prior to her departure to the Olympic event, where she will compete in the 20-kilometer Walk, a race was organized in the name of Ilse Guerrero, with which the people of Zacatecas showed their affection for her.
Governor David Monreal Ávila decided to accompany Ilse Guerrero to wish her luck; he told her, «for us, you are already a winner.»
The Zacatecan athlete thanked Governor David Monreal Ávila; «he has given me all his support and continues to do so»; she thanked the people who support her for this Olympic cycle and to keep moving forward, «all of Guadalupe is with me in Paris.»
The state governor emphasized that Ilse Guerrero is preparing to represent Mexico in the discipline of race walking; «she is the first Zacatecan woman who, for the second time, will represent us in the Olympic Games. Ilse is a great woman, with discipline and humility.»
This race was an opportunity for the community and authorities to show their support and good wishes to Ilse Guerrero.
The Zacatecan athlete was born on March 24, 1993, in Guadalupe, Zacatecas, and has had a remarkable career in athletics.
She participated in the Pan American Games in Lima 2019, where she finished fourth in the 20-kilometer race walk; she also participated in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The race also reinforced the commitment of the Government of Zacatecas to sports and state athletes; «it is an honor for us to accompany and support Ilse on her way to Paris 2024.»
Ilse Guerrero has been recognized for her effort and dedication with the Zacatecas State Sports Award in 2019; her best personal records include a time of 54:30 in the 10 kilometers and 1:29:33 in the 20 kilometers.
The race was a sports celebration that had around 300 participants, in which Governor David Monreal Ávila, along with Ilse Guerrero, the Mayor of Guadalupe, José Saldívar Alcalde, and the Director of the Zacatecan Institute of Physical Culture and Sports (Incufidez), Javier Núñez Orozco, presented the prizes and medals to the winners.
