Eduardo Rafael Palacio Jiménez, a student at the Mineros de Guadalupe Soccer Academy, became the voice of his teammates to thank Governor David Monreal Ávila for the refurbishment of Soccer Field I at the Sports Unit with a synthetic turf field, which he defined as his «second home».
With seven years of training in this sport, the young man emphasized that «I am happy and proud to be able to meet here, more than as a team, as a family that we are, to see how this sports unit is changing, where soccer fields and other sports areas are being built and turfed, it’s incredible».
In his commitment to improve sports spaces to promote peace in Zacatecas, Governor David Monreal Ávila inaugurated this field, a project in which, together with the Municipality of Guadalupe, an investment of more than 6 million pesos was made for the removal and installation of more than 8 thousand square meters of synthetic turf.
Governor David Monreal Ávila highlighted the importance of sports as a key tool for building peace in the state and the need to dignify sports spaces in this purpose.
«I have asked the 58 mayors to go to the dignification of our sports spaces. Not only are we going to dignify them, but we are going to take care of them and provide them with security conditions,» said the state governor.
Currently, three high-performance gyms are being built, the Olympic pool is being 100% rehabilitated, as well as several courts, 15 new synthetic turf fields have been delivered in different municipalities, in actions aimed at providing better conditions for Zacatecan athletes and promoting the practice of sports throughout the population.
He emphasized that «there will be no more committed six-year term than ours in the field of sports, willing to dignify each and every one of the spaces».
The Mayor of Guadalupe, José Saldívar Alcalde, said he felt honored to work on these types of actions in conjunction with the Government of David Monreal Ávila, whom he thanked for the unconditional support and because the results of coordinated work represent the true transformation of the municipality and the state.
The mayor committed to fully rehabilitate the Sports Unit, where an American football field is being built and two public tennis courts were recently delivered.
As an inaugural act, a match was held between the Fourth Division teams of Guadalupe and the Mineros de Zacatecas Basic Forces.
