The State Government, through the Zacatecas Council of Science, Technology and Innovation (Cozcyt), the Free Software Laboratory (Labsol Network), and the Autonomous University of Zacatecas (UAZ), announced the First GameJam 2025. This intensive competition aims to foster creative and technical talent by challenging participants to develop a complete video game in just two days.
Hamurabi Gamboa Rosales, Director General of Cozcyt, stated that the GameJam aligns with the state’s science and technology policy, promoting skills in programming, design, digital art, and collaborative work among high school and university students, as well as the general public.
The intensive challenge will take place on December 11 and 12, requiring young participants to form multidisciplinary teams to design and create a video game from scratch. Rubén Delgado, head of Labsol Network, highlighted the importance of such events, noting that the video game market is one of the most significant in Mexico.
The contest is organized in an academic environment featuring workshops, conferences, and mentorships. It is sponsored by four global firms—BYD, Coca-Cola, Taka Sushi, and Gastro Patio—underscoring the link between the university, the technology community, and the productive sector.
