Mexico’s Electoral Reform Forum Postponed; Zacatecas Hosts Event November 12

The federal government’s Electoral Reform Forum, coordinated with Zacatecas, has been rescheduled for November 12. The consultation will allow citizens and experts to propose a fairer electoral system with clearer rules.

Focus on participatory democracy and austerity

One key topic is participatory democracy, aiming to give citizens more decisive political space. This allows the public to define their priorities for a more just and equitable country.

Secretary General of Government Rodrigo Reyes Mugüerza highlighted funding for political parties and electoral bodies. He stressed the obligation to promote intelligent spending and reject unnecessary electoral costs.

Seeking to strengthen the political system

The consultation seeks to strengthen the democratic system by enabling the election of better profiles. The Electoral Reform Forum will analyze the party system, electoral justice, and political freedoms.

Reyes Mugüerza confirmed the postponement was requested by the administration of President Claudia Sheinbaum. The forum is expected to provide substantial analysis for a stronger political structure.
